CAMP ROYAL - GIVING DISADVANTAGED KIDS THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES!

At 10 years of age, Pradeep Shekar has often seen the sand and crystal blue waters of the Goan coast in picture postcards, but his father's Rs. 3,500 monthly income is barely enough to support his family of four, let alone think about ever going to Goa for real.

But thanks to Karma Royal Chairman John Spence, the dreams of Pradeep and those of the other 154 students who attended Camp Royal at the Royal Goan Beach Club resorts in Goa this September were given wings. Accompanied by 20 teachers, these 155 children, day students of Bangalore's Christel House Learning Center (a charity which helps some of the most impoverished children in Bangalore to get an education), celebrated the ninth outing of Camp Royal from Sep 19th to Sep 22nd.

Camp Royal is an annual offsite vacation event for the Christel House children aged between 10-14 (kindly sponsored by John Spence and the employees of the Karma Royal Group), and provides a truly memorable holiday experience for these otherwise impoverished children.

This year the children put on a very special talent show on the night of their arrival (with live music, dance and a display of artwork), and then over their three day stay enjoyed the beach, had a drawing competition, played football, went swimming, and took part in a variety of quizzes, games and competitions. They had a great time as you can see from the photos!

John Spence commented "India will always be important to me and the company. In supporting Christel House it's our small way of putting something back into the community. To see these children being educated and brought up to attain a better life makes me very proud. What makes me particularly happy is to see them romping in the pool at one of our resorts and making castles in the sand during Camp Royal - it is a pleasure to behold and worth every rupee of contribution!"

John along with Karma Royal Members (who can choose to make donations to this cause if they wish) have already contributed hugely in their sponsorship towards the nutritional program for Christel House children. It is this programme that provides all the meals that the children need over a school year. To date, this represents a staggering 4,368,142 meals and snacks! Separately Karma Royal has funded the cost of the library building and the cost of library books over the group's 10 year long association with the Learning Centre, as well as supporting the annual Camp Royal events.

Members can continue to help these children in need by donating to the nutrition programme either when settling their Management Charge payment or when staying at a Royal Resort. For more information or separate donations please contact christelhouse@royalperspective.com
